Description

The rollers in the centre of the track are to stop the haulage rope from running on the sleepers, and cutting them to pieces, and to stop damage to the rope itself.

This is at Bowes Railway Museum, at Springwell, and it's the only working preserved standard gauge rope hauled railway in the world.
